The Days of 2019
Each year, I create a piece of art to tell a story about my life throughout that year and further grow my audience on social media. For 2019, I wanted to use a new medium and create something animated to show the passage of time. I decided to experiment with markers and illustrate what I did every day to create a time-lapse animation.
I created an outline of myself in the center of the page to serve as a master copy to trace for each drawing. It traveled thousands of miles with me throughout the year and sustained more wear and tear than any of my other drawings.
Keeping myself in the center of the frame for each drawing proved to be an interesting constraint. I ensured each drawing still felt balanced by providing more detail in the background where there weren't colored figures present.
On some days, I experimented with contrasting values by shading the background with a solid color.
