The Graphic Novel Club at George Fox University publishes an anthology of short stories twice a year in order to showcase work from emerging artists. They look for stories with immersive narratives, engaging characters, and a unique eye-catching visual style. I worked with graphic novelist Dr. Barron Bell to build a cohesive story by developing beats, a script, thumbnails, storyboards, and then line-work and color for my short story: Zeloxio.
To ensure that each character felt like they had depth and could be real, I designed each of them individually. I thought about where they might work, why they might be on this planet, and what their lives were like.
